General Idea of Bear Charity Event

What is this Charity for?

To offer the children the joy!

How does the Event look like?

At the Christmas Eve we reach homes and distribute the gifts.

Whom We are offering the gifts to?

Gifts are given to the poorest families. Every year we visit children from Warsaw, and recently also: Ząbki, Błonie, Pułtusk, Ostrowia Mazowiecka, Milanówek, Maleniska. We reach the Houses of solitary Mothers, hospitals and asylums.

Where the idea comes from?

Some years ago one of us was offered a huge teddy-bear, and didn't know what to do with it... :o)

Who are the organizers of the Event?

Mainly students and alumni of academies in Warsaw.

Where the means come from?

From the offerings and donations of the goodwill people and our private allowances.

What is our benefit from it

The joy of giving, a wonderfull experience.

How can You help us?

  • You can offer some toys (as the best: big teddy bears so two years old child can sink in his arms), older boys would appreciate balls, cars, games etc. The more practical goods are exercise-books, books, school accessories.
  • You can join our team. We need help to prepare packages, collect the data about the families and institutions in need, organize transport and distribution of gifts (at Christmas Eve). Occupation for everyone is guaranteed :-)
  • More information can be found in For Donators tag.

I want to help. How can I contact You?

  • If you want to deliver gifts check the list of collection points and choose the one that is the most convenient for you. Otherwise, if none of the collection points is suitable you may contact one of the organizers and we will arrange an appointment in appropriate place.
  • If you want to help us with the organization of the whole event just contact us via email akcjamis@listy.icm.edu.plx (There is a suffix "x" at the end of every e-mail address, which was added in order to avoid spam messages. You have to remove the suffix "x" before sending an e-mail. Sorry for the inconvenience). This email gets answered by one of four people: Ania Przybysz, Ania Byszewska, Maja Surowicz or Karol Wawrzyniak.

Information for Volunteers

Where and how can I prepare a collecting point?

If you want to organise a collection point, choose the place in such a way to let the people, who have seen the poster, easily come and give the toys. Think about the security of the toys. If it is and academic site, ensure yourself that someone will be present at the collection point throughout the hole day. The worst thing that may happen for the donators is not to meet anybody in the collection point. Experience of the previous years says that the best places are: secretaries, cloak-rooms, students organisations, etc. A great interest about the Action is usually met in offices and private companies. We benefit for being known by all the people we are working with. If you can not deliver the toys from collecting point to the packing point - don't worry, just contact us and we will organise the transportation.

How does the distribution of the gifts look like?

The Idea of the Charity Event is simple. We distribute the gifts in 24th of December. Especially on this day we need people and cars. This moment is always problematic. Although every year the number of the volunteers is increasing, the number of toys increases even more. Therefore if You want to help us do not hesitate to write us. We will appreciate your help. You will not be alone, usually we distribute the goods in two or three people groups (it depends on the number of cars/number of volunteers ratio). We try to build up the teams in such a way that there is at least one experienced person (someone who was taking part in the action previously) in the car. As we are in phone contact - every time you can ask for the support. This Charity Event is created by every one of us - people who want to offer, in this special day, to someone more in need. So, if You want to join the "Teddy Bear Action" this day You are warmly welcomed.

Acknowledgements

Thanks to many great people, who help us organize the Event or give the toys, we are able to organize this Event every year. So every year we express our gratitude to those people (to all that we could remember) on these Event's web pages. Some of those great people have their own companies, which means we can express our gratitude in a form of an advertisement - linking to their web pages :).
